Megan trained at GPSD after taking up ballet classes at just 9 years old. She progressed quickly through her grades until finally passing her Royal Academy of Dance Advanced 2 Exam with Distinction. Megan has been an Associate at Central School of Ballet and a Senior Associate at the Royal Ballet School. She was fortunate enough to have also been chosen to attend the Royal Ballet Schools International Summer School at Covent Garden. Megan went on to train full-time at Central School of ballet at age 16 graduating in 2015 with a BA (Hons) in Professional Dance & Performance. During her graduate year at Central Megan took a lead role in Christopher Marnie’s piece, “Scenes from a Wedding” along with dancing in other pieces whilst on tour with Ballet Central. Megan has also worked with Christopher Hampson (Director of Scottish Ballet) Christopher Bruce (Artistic Director of Rambert Dance Company until 2002) and Kit Holder (Birmingham Royal Ballet).
Megan joined the teaching team at Georgina Pay School of Dance (GPSD) in September 2015 and has contributed greatly to the student’s learning and joy of dance in this time. Megan has previously been a member of TCYB for its first 4 Seasons and last year was excited to join the team in a different role. Megan has, once again, had creative and artistic input this season, with choreography as well as making adaptations in some pieces too. She has been involved right through from auditions to teaching daily ballet class during the rehearsal process as well as being the student’s rehearsal Mistress and mentor. This year Megan was selected after a rigorous, application, teaching and interview process, to train on the vocational strand of the Royal Ballet Schools Teaching Diploma.
Also involved with the company is Hertford’s Oliver Freeston who trained with Georgina and then later with both Georgina and Michelle until he was 16. He then went on to train vocationally at Central School of Ballet. During his time there he danced in “2 Step” Created by Shobana Jayasingh for the City of London Festival and performed at St. Paul’s Cathedral for the Olympic hand over.
Oliver’s time at Central culminated with him touring with Ballet Central.
Since graduating from Central School of Ballet with a BA (Hons): Professional Dance and Performance Studies, and his Advanced 2 RAD Ballet with Distinction, Oliver has toured Japan with the State Ballet of Georgia under the direction of Nina Ananiashvili, works include the world premiere of “Siberia to Moscow” directed by Frank Anderson, “Giselle”, “Romeo and Juliet”, “Don Quixote” and works by Jiri Killian.
He has worked with Peter Schaufuss Ballet Company in Denmark and the UK. The works performed on the Danish tour include “Boys from Liverpool” playing the role of George Harrison, Michael Jackson “I’m Bad” and on the English tour, Ashton’s “Romeo And Juliet”
During 2011-2012 Oliver worked with Company C in San Francisco 10th Anniversary, with works by Charles Anderson, Peter Anastos, Patrick Corbin, Twyla Tharp, David Grenke, Val Caniperoli and Gregory Dawson.
Since leaving the USA, he has performed for Garrett + Moulton Productions for their International tour of “Stringwreck” with the Del Sol string quartet and worked once more with Peter Schaufuss Ballet Company on their Danish tour of “Tchaikovsky Trilogy”.
More recently Oliver has been working with Raymond Gubbay Productions on their English tour of “One night in Vienna” Strauss Gala, Directed by Alexandra Worall.
Oliver is involved with TCYB on many levels, from audition process to the choreography of new works and costume creation. More recently Ollie has been working Raymond Gubbery productions, on their English tour of “One Night in Vienna”, English National Ballet’s “Romeo & Juliet” and Really Useful Group on “Phantom of the Opera”.
